There are several differences between Catholics and Protestants religions. Over recent years there have been some attempts to find reconciliation ground between the two groups, yet differences remain. Including differences in scripture, However Catholics and protestants say they are both Christians. Both religions follow the bible but they just believe in different things in regards to scripture.

Catholics do the Sign of the Cross when they pray. They also pray the Holy Rosary and ask the intercession of the Saints and the Holy in their prayers. Protestants do not believe on those ideals.

Simply put:

Catholics are Christian that believes in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The first and the original teachings of Christianity.

Protestants are still Christians but with a different view with it.

I am not really familiar with the protestants, I am only basing my comment on what I have heard from my friends or my own understanding , for me all of us are called christians, (thus , a believer of Jesus Christ)they were called protestant because , they were the people who disagree with some teaching of the Catholic church.
