There is no real definite answer to this question as it all depends on which council you are applying to, what amount of houses are available for their disposal and how many people are on the waiting list.

If you submit your application at the earliest possible time and maybe get a letter of support from your local politician to submit with your application, it may speed up the process and you may be waiting 2 to 3 months.
