A computer processor is an electronic device that processes information received from your computer, it operates in binary code and is usually determined by a speed which is known as hertz.

E.g When the "H" key on your computer is not pressed, it is known in binary code as a 0 and when it is pressed it is known as a 1.

If your processor has a speed of 3.2Ghz (Giga Hertz), this means that your processor checks for incoming information 32,000,000,000 which means that the processor checks for a 1 or a 0 32 billion times a second (thats pretty fast). So if you press "H" and your computer receives a binary code of 1, it then tells the a program on your computer to produce a graphic on the interface that is the letter "H".

A computer processor will only process a 0 or a 1 like a switch.
