I think you havent placed the ram rightly in its slot or the ram is not working.

Your computer might not start after you have installed new memory simply because it might just be incompatible with your computer. I have run into this problem on my Dell Dimension even though I was running all the same modules and it wont boot any component. I would say to stick to the manufacturers guidelines and follow them and it should work just fine for you.
