The Sagem DMC830 is a dual mode phone which operates as a DECT phone and a GSM phone (Landline and Moblile). This means that when you are at home and close enough to the base station and you decide to make a phone call, you are charged at your landline rates. Then when you decide to take your phone out with you you will be charged at your mobile rates.

It is presumed that it has call waiting so if you are on a landline call and you have an incoming call then it will alert you to a call waiting.
